Returning Visitors

Your customers probably will not convert on their first visit to your site. If they come back for a second look you really do have a great opportunity.

Why Returning Visitors Are So Valuable

Here are some big reasons why you should be trying hard to increase the rate of returning visitors to your website:

They're much more likely to buy than first time visitors

In our experience, returning visitors are 5 times more likely to buy from you (or contact you etc) than your first time website visitors. This is a massive reason to make sure your website is optimised to give your visitors a great experience.

They save you money

Running a successful website is always a bit of a numbers game. The good news with returning visitors is that they can be counted as numbers you don't have to pay for. Acquisition costs are usually a large part of site marketing expenditure, if you can up your level of repeat visits you will not need to pay so much in acquisition costs.

They're far more likely to buy again

Think about it, if you've given a new customer a bad experience they're unlikely to ever come back again. On the other hand if you give your customers a great experience why would they ever go anywhere else next time they're in the market for your goods or services? Returning visitors are valuable, returning customers are invaluable.

They're likely to become your most loyal advocates

People are social beings and they love expressing their opinions on all sorts of things. They particularly like to make recommendations to friends and acquaintances (Squidoo is a great testament of this). If you give your visitors and customers such a great experience that they come back time and time again they may even start doing your marketing for you. Personal recommendation is the best medium available.
