From its beginnings as a local paper it has grown into a national paper associated with a complex organisational structure and an international multimedia and web presence. The Guardian has been edited by Alan Rusbridger since 1995, with Katharine Viner designated to replace him in the summer of 2015.[3] Its sister papers include The Observer (a British Sunday paper) and The Guardian Weekly.
