Search Engine Optimisation (SEO)

Search Engine Optimisation is the process of optimising your site so that it appears higher in the non-paid list of search engine results.

Can you get us to #1 on Google? When will we see results? Is it still all about the meta-tags?

SEO is a Means (Not an End)

Getting good positions in the search engines results pages (SERPs) without having to pay for clicks is admittedly very exciting. No wonder everyone wants to know what the secret formula is for getting to the top spot. But getting to #1 on Google has become somewhat of an obsession. Before deciding you want to be top for a specific list of terms it's important to think about the impact it's likely to have on your business:

  • Are lots of people searching on the terms you're gunning for?
  • What's the competition like for the terms you've identified?
  • Will those search terms bring in the right type of (relevant) visitors?
  • What sort of ROI can you expect from the terms you have identified?

So don't get carried away by the allure of SEO, use it as a means to an end. Make sure that 'end' is the website goals you have defined.

SEO Wizards Do Not Really Exist

Our SEO team may be wizard-like with their optimisation skills but, contrary to popular belief, there really is no ‘dark art’ to SEO. Real SEO wizards do not exist; highly-skilled, dedicated, experienced professionals are the only people who will be able to help you develop successful SEO campaigns.

A successful campaign can be achieved by:

  • Having a clear vision of your business objectives
  • Identifying your unique selling points. Are they translated to well targeted content on your website?
  • Creating a good, accessible website and ensuring it is 'search engine friendly'
  • Getting relevant, quality online sources to back up what you're saying on your website. In other words, if you're claiming that you're the most relevant website to people searching for "PR Companies"; you'll need to ensure other websites are backing up your claim

In short, there is no way to cheat Google, Yahoo, MSN and Ask. Search engines are driven by giving users a selection of quality websites that meet their expectations after typing in a search query. To make it to the top of that list you need to convince them that your website best meets that search query. Not an easy task when thousands of websites are competing to be listed!

To make things even more complicated Search Engines make around 300 algorithmic changes per year which can result in positive or negative changes to your keywords ranking. At Moodia we track the rank of 1000's of keywords using the latest search engine ranking software such as the industry standard "Advanced Wed Ranking" by Caphyon or SEO Book's "Rank Checker" for those on a tighter budget.

Avoiding SEO Cowboys

A mistake made by many online businesses (and less reputable search firms) is the belief that search engine optimisation is the magic solution to online marketing. The truth of the matter is that attempting to rank a website in a competitive space is a time-consuming process that requires an investment of time and money.

Moodia is an Approved Index SEO Agency and is committed to the promotion of ethical SEO practice. In summary this means that we will never employ unethical and risky techniques in order to obtain positions for a site. All of the SEO techniques that we will recommend comply with guidelines set by Google.

Whatever your requirements we have the knowledge, experience and expertise. Typical SEO projects we are involved in include:

  • Providing specific advice and guidance for website re-designs - including the smooth transition of domain name / file-name changes
  • Carrying out full website search strategy reviews
