  2. How can I improve my return from Google AdWords advertising? The Answer!

The Answers You Need:

1. Why do my competitors appear above me on Google?

Your competitors are probably investing more time, effort and resource into search engine marketing than you are. If you're already investing a lot without seeing results something is not right and you need to switch agencies, fast.

If you've been burnt once, don't (whatever you do) let that ruin your faith in the power of search engine marketing. It works. Choosing not to believe in it is the same as accepting defeat.

3. What is my conversion rate?

Your conversion rate can be calculated by dividing the number of visitors to your site that achieve your website goals by the total number of visitors to your site overall.
E.g.
Goal converters = 5
Total visitors = 100
Conversion rate = 0.05

It's usually expressed as a percentage so the above would be described as a 5% conversion rate.

4. Why does my site turn away so many potential cutomers?

The average website conversion rate is pitifully low, usually below 2%. This is because most sites present barriers which prevent visitors from achieving what they want to achieve (these barriers can prove difficult to detect without analysing visitor data). Even the best sites do not employ all the techniques and tactics they could to increase the number of conversions.

Analysing data on your visitors' sessions will show you where your site is turning prospects away. You can then work at improving these areas to keep more visitors on the right path to conversion.

How much revenue will my site generate in the next 12 months?

This is the calculation you need to do:

The number of site visits you get every month
x
Your conversion rate
x
Average value per transaction/enquiry through your site

Next, multiply this by 12 and you'll have an estimate of likely revenue you're going to generate over the course of a year.

If you want to increase the revenue you generate from your site you will need to focus on improving one or more (or preferably all) of the above factors.
